Blizzard quietly reveals all new cards in Hearthstone: United in Stormwind expansion
Under normal circumstances, before the launch of a new Hearthstone expansion comes days of card demonstrations on gaming sites and YouTube channels, followed by a final Blizzard livestream where the remainder is collectively "poured" in the form of some fun games.
But as Activision Blizzard faces allegations of serious discrimination, sexual harassment, and a pervasive "brother-boy" culture, Team 5 has decided to forego the usual fanfare for the upcoming United in Stormwind expansion and instead quietly released all new cards on playhearthstone. .com .
Hearthstone chief designer Dean Ayala announced the decision on Reddit, saying that the team's silence was not the result of some sort of company-wide conversational pattern. "Our focus was to support each other and plan action on how we can make our business a better place for everyone," he wrote. "Something we've clearly failed in the past."
"It's a tough sell to celebrate any moment at the moment. I assure you, the only hesitation we have going forward with things like streams or card screenings is disrespect to our colleagues. This is an incredibly important time to think and reflect. Make sure we chart the best path forward "There's no blocking order, no legal team, that tells us what to say and what not to say. Right now we're just focusing on each other."
United in Hearthstone's Stormwind expansion is scheduled for release on August 3, and Ayala said that's not expected to change. We have no plans to delay our launch or withdraw further development,” he wrote. "We're just taking the time to make sure we're getting this moment right."
