Watch a full Halo Infinite multiplayer match before tomorrow's tech preview

343 Industries did a post today detailing what's going to happen in the Halo Infinite technical preview that Halo Insiders will play this weekend. The preview feed for a preview build touched on a lot of key details that Halo fans will find interesting, such as the new Academy target training mode, numerous new settings available for both console and PC gamers (including a FOV slider on Xbox), and replacing one with the other. the ability to instantly drop weapons without having to .

It was a fun little stream that definitely got me more excited to play the quiz, but what stood out at the end of the stream was when 343 played a full-on multiplayer Slayer match on a new map called Live Fire. You can watch the entire game running on an Xbox Series X above.

I've been getting good vibes from Halo Infinite since the short multiplayer game came out in June, but after watching a full match, it really looks like next-gen Halo. Microsoft positions Infinite as the perfect Halo for fans of any game, but in terms of gameplay, it appears to be a direct successor to Halo 5. The return of mechanics such as sliding, running, mantle and zoom. standard weapons mean Infinite will likely be faster than any Halo match you can load into the Master Chief Collection.

I've also noticed that a few of the new single firearms on display are a little... spammy. You can definitely see players shooting at high rate of fire with the new VK78 Commando DMR and MK50 Sidekick pistol, which look like standard weapons in Infinite. Older versions of Halo DMRs and pistols prevented rapid firing with increased bullet spread, but these new versions remain surprisingly accurate regardless. A potentially big change in the feel of the two iconic guns in the series. Higher fire rates are certainly not a bad thing (I might actually prefer that), but it's worth noting for Halo traditionalists who expect it differently.

We're also seeing some changes in visual feedback. Teams are no longer identified by red or blue, so teammates will now be indicated by blue edge accents and silhouettes visible through walls. Enemies, as I understand it, have a contrasting red glow that is sometimes visible and sometimes invisible. Based on this short clip it's hard to know exactly when the highlights are gone, but you can definitely pick an enemy when you shoot and their shield is red.

These are the kinds of details I'll enjoy squandering when the Halo Infinite technical testing period begins. The test will run from Thursday, July 29th to Sunday, August 1st, so if you're lucky enough to enter, don't miss it.
